Most compatibility arguments ignore shrimplets. Adults may seem fine while every new baby disappears. That is why the safest compatibility advice always asks what success means to you: surviving adults, or a breeding colony.
Conservative rules
- Species-only tanks are safest for breeding colonies.
- Snails are often easier companions than fish.
- Even “nano” fish may still hunt shrimplets.
- Moulting adults are temporarily more vulnerable than usual.
Use compatibility tables as guidance, not a guarantee.
